Island for all Occasions
This lovely couple called us when they decided to extend their kitchen to an open plan kitchen/dining room/family room. The kitchen was only a few years old so they wanted to re-use as much of it as they possibly could. With the building work completed by Hulse Renovations Ltd we were able to use the plans to design a new layout for the kitchen and work out what we could keep. The customers had a wishlist of what they would like to include; a window seat, a wine rack, a pastry table and a butler’s pantry.
The Buckingham door in Dove Grey Ash was the perfect match to their existing doors. The customers opted for a contrasting colour of Indigo for the island creating a great focal point in this space. The worktop, upstands and island are 30mm polished Silestone Miami Vena. The quartz worktop continues inside the butler’s pantry and behind the window seat to create a seamless surface. The customer’s existing AEG double oven and microwave were re-installed in a tall housing unit with storage above and below.
The island unit gives a real focal point to this kitchen and is multifunctional with a statement pastry bench with slatted oak base and small drawers at one end. The opposite end is a great space for entertaining with the wine cooler easily to hand! The sink and integrated dishwasher and bin sit discreetly in a run of storage. The T&G end panels and American Copper cup handles add further interest and elevate this timeless classic look.
The butler’s pantry with spice racks and internal sensor lighting is practical and hides everyday appliances keeping worktops clear of clutter. The open shelving matches the internal carpentry in the dresser, glass fronted cupboard and window seat, creating a cohesive look. The bespoke built chimney is framed by a stylish yet simple overmantle shelf in Indigo to compliment the island.
Beyond the kitchen, the dresser in Dove Grey Ash, with integrated wine racks, enhances the open plan living space and blends seamlessly with the kitchen area.
We commissioned Neil and the team to design a new kitchen as part of an extension project, integrating components of our previous kitchen as it was only 2 years old. Throughout the design process Neil was flexible and able to accommodate our indecision – and the final product is fantastic!
