Victorian Charm

This family live in a beautiful Victorian property which needed a little TLC in the kitchen. Building work consisted of removing an existing wall so 2 rooms were opened to make one large, light airy space.

The brief was to have an inviting, modern kitchen and dining space that could withstand the daily pressures of family life but also reflect the beautiful Victorian history of the property.

Work surfaces in Dekton Entzo were chosen for its natural colour and warmth which blended perfectly with the Ethos, Melrose skinny shaker door in Cashmere and matt gold handles by Jigsaw.

In contrast, the island & tall unit doors were a slab door by Stori, Zola Soft Matte in Graphite, with the complementing work surface in Oak Montanus. This work surface was made bespoke for the customer, as they wanted a large island, with a curve on one corner, making the island functional, practical for family life and exquisite to look at.

In keeping with the property, we built a bespoke chimney mantle to house the extractor hood, which provides a great focal point in the kitchen, when all the cooking, entertaining and chin wagging begins! The picture dado rail was an existing original feature in the property, and the customer understandably insisted this should remain. We sourced the same dado rail, continuing this around the mantle creating the feeling that the mantle was an original feature.

We’re really pleased that we chose Grappenhall Kitchens to design and install our kitchen. From the first meeting, they were great at suggesting design ideas and showing us examples of how different layouts and ideas would work. This has given us a kitchen that we wouldn’t have been able to create ourselves. After we agreed the design, they kept us updated on delivery times and were a pleasure to have in the house during the installation, and we would highly recommend them to others. Thanks Neil, Andrea and Carole!
